Message living at home back in the day..

I remember using basically my whole paycheck + working on things on the side to make cash... and ALL of it went into my TT..

One month I spent over $8k in "some" mods... and that was me building/fabbing my own turbo kit to save the thousands that it used to cost when the BB turbos just hit the scene.

I do ALL my own work and when I looked through my receipts (didn't even go through all of them because of the shock I had, not even including the Z's original purchase price that I paid.. I surpassed the value of the ZTT by atleast 2x, just in buying mods and useless stuff like stereo equipment, etc etc.. now the widebody which is going to end up being well over $10k alone and the $6k wheels/tires.

Luckily however; I stayed in school full time, for most of it.. but if I didn't put so much effort into the Z at the time.. I should be having a master's degree by now...

Its funny how priorities change when you get older, (no matter how you think "i'll never stop doing things to this car, or I love it and will always do this or that".. it all changes when you get older.

When I bought my first how about 3 yrs ago.. I don't think I have bought one SINGLE mod for my TT since.. I walk in my basement and see over $10k worth of mods just sitting in a pile in my "junk room"... Roll cage, polished plenum, BOVs, water injection, the older prototype 3" expansion pipes, 3" SS test pipes, Defi gauge sending units (since the bastards that stole the gauges didn't get the sending units), New Techtom iic-460 launch control, 2 sets of wheels, 2 sets of brand new shrink wrapped tires, new turbo timer, viper remote start alarm system, previous Alpine alarm system, new window moldings/trim, new fender liners, Jspec tails, Center panel, Subwoofer system (3-10" Concept subs with Orion 250R competition amp), Infiinity 3-way 6.5" door speakers, cross overs, GT28RS .64 a/r Turbos that have housings that were custom one-off made for me by Mike smith (thanks Don!), Mike's cast aluminum inlet pipes that were further modified with a conical setup so there is no transisition of angles where the inlet pipes meet the compressor housing inlet which have less than a 7^ taper to allow maximum air flow, Two MAF's, Just bought new AFC to control 2nd MAF since old one got stolen, Custom Compressor inlet pipes (replacement of stock "accordian" piping, Custom piping to allow each MAF/filter to be in place of stock side mount intercooler location to improve flow, Mike Smith Cast iron exhaust manifolds, Port matched/gasket matched heads (only exhaust side done currently), JWT 400+ cams (brand new), Border fuel rail, 850cc injectors, Aeromotive compact Fuel pressure regulator, Dual Walbro 255H LPR fuel pumps (planning on running in sequence instead of parallel since I am planning to have less than 750rwhp on boost alone (hopefully). I have a Nitrous Fogger setup, RPM window switch 3k-6.5k rpm values, 150 direct port.

ETC ETC ETC ETC, SO many other things that I can't even think of now..

Then the garage my TT was parked in a few years ago got broken into, stole over $7k worth of things.. Lots of mods where either in new boxes sitting in car, or half way installed since I had the dash apart/off. That alone made me realize that the car isn't worth as much of the time as I believed it once was.

Its becomming more of a "chore" to finish the car now... It used to be a passion that I would keep working on.. but with so many mods to be installed, custom one off parts to test etc.. It hardly seems like its THAT much more important, rather than going back to school again and getting my Graduate degree, which will pay off in the end... and THEN i'll have the time AND money to get whatever I want :)

But looking back now.. its just not worth dumping that kinda money into a car.. specially being young. I would just get some decent wheels, nice stance and make it look decent. Drive that around for a good while, get your education (completely)... get a good job and then you'll have all the time in the world to play.

NO, This picture is not photoshopped. It took many times to take this picture. Setting up the timer, shutter speed etc, then jumping on my bike and getting the tire to spin.
